Excited to announce I launched a new site yeaterda

Excited to announce I launched a new site yeaterday with my travel writing bestie @noreenwriter! 🎉

We're going to be profiling some of the most terrific vacation rentals around the world. From houses and condos to cabins, treehouses and more...we want to share our love of traveling by vacation rental!

This is one more rung on the ladder for me toward my goal of running my own media company. I now have this joint venture, three blogs of my own, plus my husband's blog I designed and help manage.

I've been blogging for 17 years now, and it's brought me book deals, job offers, TV appearances, speaking gigs and more. Most importantly, blogging has allowed me to take control of my career and build businesses that I love where I can make my own schedule and work from anywhere. ❤️️

So glad to be launching this latest blog with one of my favorite people in the world!!

Do you like staying in vacation rentals as opposed to hotels?

I’ve always been intrigued by stories of the liv

I’ve always been intrigued by stories of the lives of Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, so when I ran across "Z: The Beginning of Everything," I knew I had to read it.

I’ll admit that I watched the Amazon series first, which covers maybe the first 1/5th of the book. Christina Ricci plays an amazing Zelda, so it was fun to picture her and hear her voice while reading the book.

I think much of what I’ve consumed previously glamorized the lives of the Fitzgerald, depicting a fun-loving—if sometimes guilty over-indulgent—couple that blew up the literary and fashion scene of their day. And yes, they were all those things. But, they were more deeply troubled and broken than I realized before reading the book.

Although "Z: The Beginning of Everything" is a novel, author Therese Anne Fowler drew from source material, of which there is plenty. Both of the Fitzgerald’s were prolific documenters of their own lives, leaving behind diaries, letters and more. Fowler says she read everything she could get her hands on and that her , “… undertaking was always about Zelda the person, not the “wife of—.”

It was a compelling read that made me even more interested in Zelda Fitzgerald’s life. I’m more convinced than ever that she was a talented writer and artist in her own right and that meeting F. Scott was perhaps both the best and worst thing that ever happened to her. I’m also more thankful than ever to have a supportive husband who is always happen to step back and let me shine on my own. I hate when people say I'm "lucky." I'm lucky I ge

I hate when people say I'm "lucky." I'm lucky I get to travel. I'm lucky I live at the beach. I'm lucky I left law for a career I love. I'm lucky I got book deals. The list goes on and on.

Here's what "luck" looks like...

I blew my LSATs not once, but twice. I had to go to a bottom tier law school and be top of my class to transfer out. My contracts professor pulled some unfair B.S. that almost ruined my GPA, but I petitioned the school to change my grade...and won! Without that, I never would have transfered to a Tier 1 school or gotten some of the career opportunities I received.

My law practice area was tanking about a year into practicing law, so I started blogging about sports at work, at night and on the weekends. I pitched myself for radio and TV interviews. Two years and 178 blog posts (yes, I counted) later, I was hired away by ESPN. But not before being laid off and then going to work at a firm I hated for a brief period. I got so stressed at that firm I ended up in the hospital.

I have at least a half dozen more stories like that. I make my own luck. I hate being told I can't do something!

That's why 24 hours after my literary agent and I parted ways, I'm more committed than ever to publishing my first novel. I will not wallow or question my ability. I will simply double down and make it happen!

I'm looking forward to a week of spring skiing, reading and writing.

As much as I love my hubby and all my other friends and family I travel with, I also don't mind traveling on my own. Maybe that's because I lived alone for years before meeting and marrying my husband. 🤷🏼‍♀️

We wrapped our great Central Florida art road trip up with a visit to @selbygardens, which is having the most magnificent art show right now! 🎨

Monet's Giverny has been reimagined here as part of Selby's current art exhibit: Monet's Gardens Go Pop! featuring Lichtenstein's take on Monet. It was such a fun and immersive experience!

If you're near Sarasota anytime before June 27th, definitely stop by and check this out for yourself. The gardens are so beautiful, and this is an incredibly creative and well executed exhibit.
