Sample Page

This is an example page. It’s different from a blog post because it will stay in one place and will show up in your site navigation (in most themes). Most people start with an About page that introduces them to potential site visitors. It might say something like this:

Hi there! I’m a bike messenger by day, aspiring actor by night, and this is my website. I live in Los Angeles, have a great dog named Jack, and I like piña coladas. (And gettin’ caught in the rain.)

…or something like this:

The XYZ Doohickey Company was founded in 1971, and has been providing quality doohickeys to the public ever since. Located in Gotham City, XYZ employs over 2,000 people and does all kinds of awesome things for the Gotham community.

As a new WordPress user, you should go to your dashboard to delete this page and create new pages for your content. Have fun!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I bring the beach lifestyle to you all day every day with inspiration for your closet, your home and your outlook...because the beach makes everything better.

I ♥️ historic hotels! #TravelTuesday

Maybe it's because I did see historic preservation law when I was an attorney, but I just love imagining all the people who have walked the halls before me. And boy does The Don (as the @thedoncesarhotel is nicknamed) have quite the impressive guest list!

Al Capone, Lou Gehrig, Clarence Darrow, Franklin Roosevelt, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Fitzgerald...Those are just a few of the celebrities who spent some time during the Jazz Age at The Don. Fitzgerald even mentions the hotel in his book, Zelda.

As I'm currently reading Z: The Beginning of Everything about Zelda Fitzgerald, I'm reminded of the time we spent at The Don last year and how it felt like being transported back in time.

Have you ever gotten that feeling at a hotel? What hotel was it?

Don't mind me, I'm just over here pretending it's summer again already! 😎

It was 74 here today, and apparently we have 76 degree weather to look forward to tomorrow and again on Wednesday before we plunge back into the 50s for highs.

I'm going to just enjoy it while I can!

Are you ready for warmer temps or enjoying winter still?

Here in the South, pineapples are a sign of friendship and hospitality. Maybe that’s why I love pineapple decor…or maybe it’s just because they make me feel happy when I see them. 🍍

Whatever the case, I was recently searching for some new pineapple decor and decided to share my favorite finds! Whether you’re decorating your living room, bedroom, kitchen, office or patio, there’s no shortage of happy, friendly pineapple-shaped objects.

Check out the link in my bio for all my favorite finds, including pillows, lamps, copper mugs, bookshelf decorations and more!

There’s nothing quite like a thriller that keeps you turning the page for more. I read The Night Swim in under 48 hours because I was so gripped by the story. If you like true crime podcasts (my personal favorites are My Favorite Murder and Up and Vanished), this is the book for you.

This thriller follows true crime podcaster Rachel Krall as she travels to a small town on the North Carolina coast to cover a rape trial. A local golden boy bound for the Olympics has been accused of raping the granddaughter of the police chief, tearing the small town apart.

Rachel has always been careful to keep her identity a secret, but someone named Hannah has tracked her down before she even arrives in Neapolis and left a note on her car asking her to help investigate the death of Hannah’s 16-year-old sister 20 years earlier. As Rachel attempts to cover the current trial and its twists and turns, she continues to receive notes and can’t help but get caught up in that mystery as well.

The current case going to trial might have been enough to make this book intriguing, but author Megan Goldin expertly wove in the second mysterious death. Goldin keeps you guessing all the way until the end about both crimes.

This is the perfect thriller for true crime podcast and documentary junkies, as it’s basically the same thing in book form.

Have you read any good thrillers lately?

"You cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore." - André Gide

I've been talking to a lot of folks recently who are looking to make a career change. As you may know, I left being a corporate attorney to become ESPN's sports business reporter. That was 10 years ago when I was in my late 20s.

It's easy to look at that statement and think that ESPN just called me up one day and it was so easy to change careers. Not at all what happened!

Two years before I got the ESPN call, I started blogging multiple times per week. I worked my way up to contributing for Forbes. I pitched myself to do television segments on a regional sports network. I pitched myself for radio interviews (which is how I met my husband, but that's another story). I even put together a book proposal and pitched myself to literary agents.

The point is, you have to put yourself in a position to make that change. And, let me tell you that you're never going to feel 100% ready or 100% sure. Even when ESPN offered me the job, I had second thoughts about leaving partnership track at my firm and giving up all my clients. I was leaving relative safety for the great unknown.

Here's what you need to ask yourself though: how are you going to feel 2 years from now when you are in the exact same position you are in now?

If that makes you cringe, scowl or cry...that's a pretty good sign it's time to start figuring out your next step.

I'm going to be creating a new reel every day for 30 days, most of which are going to focus on changing jobs or careers. Check out the ones I've already done on my Reels tab! And send me your questions!

This #TravelTuesday, I'm throwing back to our honeymoon #daytripping around the French Riviera. ⛵

I snapped this photo in Cannes during the film festival. On the first day of our honeymoon, we got to watch them setting up for the festival, and then we went back on the last day of our honeymoon and walked around in the crowds and just soaked up the atmosphere as the film festival was kicking off.

Beautiful blue water, sailboats on the horizon, mountains rising up to meet the sky and creamy umbrellas dotting the beach...it's all my favorite things in one photo! ♥️

We have plans to go relive our honeymoon for our 10th anniversary, which is now just a little over 3 years away. Can't wait!

Have you ever been to the French Riviera?

Can you believe I used to be a corporate attorney?

No bright Lilly Pulitzer prints in the office, no last-minute travel, no working outdoors by the pool or at the beach and definitely no time for hobbies.

And yet...I spent my whole life up to my late-20s working toward being a corporate attorney and never even considering what else might light me up.

Do you know that you need to make a career change but have no idea what to do next? If so, my latest reel is for you! (Go watch "Do this to find your dream career" in my reels.)

A friend of mine gave me this exercise to do years ago, and it has always stuck with me. It will completely change the way you think about your next job and ensure that you find a better fit!

As a former corporate attorney, I always planned to spend my life in an office job. However, doing this exercise after spending a couple of years in journalism taught me that I'm basically unemployable now. 🤷🏼‍♀️ So, I had to make up my own career! And for the past 6 years I have been so incredibly happy that I did.

That's not to say that you should be an entrepreneur (or that you shouldn't be!)...just that this exercise will make things really clear really fast.

I can't wait to hear what you come up with! Leave a comment or shoot me a DM and let me know. 😉

This #traveltuesday I'm really missing California, especially my beloved Huntington Beach. ♥️

I normally travel out to Southern California 3-4 times a year, and now it has been about 14 months thanks to the pandemic. 😢

Even though I live at the beach, I really miss my morning routine in Huntington Beach. I have a friend who lives there that I visit each trip. Because I'm usually still on East coast time, I tend to wake up before her. I go downtown, grab a latte and then walk the pier and the beach.

I really hope sometime in 2021 I'm able to get back out there!

Are there any places you are hoping to visit in 2021? (My list is long!!)

I love our historic downtown! #loveamelia

The architecture, the old ads on the brick walls, the independent shops, the meandering road and the lights in the trees at night...I never get tired of walking around down here.

Today, I met with the new director of @fernandinabeachmainstreet so I could learn how to get more involved with preserving our history here. Fun fact: when I was a practicing attorney, part of what I did was historic preservation tax credits.

It's also why I'm weave historic buildings and homes into my novels. My first novel, which I hope will get picked up by a publisher soon, revolves around a historic home on a small fictional island. My second novel, which I am currently writing, borrows a lot of the details from the commercial buildings here on my island to describe Main Street and the bookstore at the center of my story.

What are some of you are favorite historic towns? What do you love about them?

A week ago, we adopted this sweet cat we met at @pouncecatcafe.sav. ♥️

Her name was Copy Cat, but we wanted to give her a new name for her new start.

We've spent all week trying out different names, and we've settled on...Pepper!

It started as Peppermint Patty because I wanted a Christmasy name, but now I call her Pepper Potts, Peppa Pig, Salt n Pepa...you get the idea. 😂

So far, she's fitting in nicely in our household and starting to become better friends with the two cats we already had. She's seen the dog from a distance, but we're taking that slow. Georgia the GSD would love to be her friend, but Pepper is not quite ready yet.

She is still sleeping separately from everyone at night and staying in her own room when we're away, but the kitties are really starting to get along well during the day. ♥️

Best Christmas present!

Cheers to the new year! 🥂

I'm not going to dwell on everything that went wrong in 2020. Let's just say I'm not going to look back on it fondly.

And while I know the world didn't change overnight last night, I have hope for the new year just like I do every year.

So, I'm going to drink my champagne and write on my next book and put myself in the best situation I can to be healthy, happy and successful.

Do you have any BHAGs (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) for 2021?

I'll share one of mine! I want a publishing contract for my first novel this year. 🤞

Tell me about yours! Let's speak them into existence!

Georgia the #GSD is worn out after a great Christmas day where we never got out of our pajamas. I can't remember the last time I did that!

I know this year is different, and a lot of us probably didn't spend it exactly the way we would have liked...but I hope you made the best of it and there was something about your day you enjoyed or were thankful for. ♥️

And if you don't celebrate Christmas, I still hope you had a lovely day and had something to be thankful for!

If you're ready to kick off the long holiday weekend and cozy up with a charming Christmas read, grab Christmas at Fireside Cabins! 🎄

I've read all of @jhaleauthor's Christmas books, and I have to say this one is my favorite! ♥️

I love that it centers around a girls trip, because if you've followed me for long you know I love my girls trips! And having had more than one experience where I showed up to my rental house to find it was nothing like the pictures, I could definitely relate to the predicament the ladies find themselves in when they arrive at the rundown Fireside Cabins.

Instead of running for the hills, however, they meet the sweet widow who's trying to run the cabins on her own and decide to stay. Throw in a surly coffee shop owner who is in desperate need of a little Christmas cheer, and our main character Lila has her work cut out for her. But maybe it's just the kind of project she needs to get her mind off missing the family she no longer has and her friends whose lives seem to be pulling them in opposite directions.

You'll fall in love with this sweet little town and wish you could go visit Fireside Cabins yourself! ♥️
