The Castaways

In The Castaways, the idyllic island of Nantucket is shaken when Greg and Tess MacAvoy, one half of a tightknit group of four prominent couples, tragically lose their lives in a boating accident during an anniversary celebration. As summer approaches, the bereaved friends – the Kapenashes, Drakes, and Wheelers – struggle to cope with the devastating loss of the beloved MacAvoys.

However, the warm weather ushers in more than just grief. As the community bands together to mourn Greg and Tess, long-buried secrets begin to surface, threatening to unravel the close bonds that once united the four couples. With their world turned upside down, the Kapenashes, Drakes, and Wheelers find themselves utterly unprepared for the startling revelations that will change the course of their live forever.

Amid the sunshine and salty ocean breezes, darkness lurks in this deeply human novel of relationships, sacrifices, and the harsh truths that can shatter even the surroundings.

The Rumor

For Nantucket writer Madeline King, a looming deadline is the least of her concerns. With her bank account dwindling and inspiration failing her, she finds herself gripped by a crippling writer’s block. Her best friend Grace, however, is living her best life – transforming her garden into an island oasis with the help of a ruggedly handsome landscape architect.

But as the two friends’ lives diverge, Grace approaches a precipice, teetering on the edge of a momentous decision that could change everything. Madeline can’t help but wonder – could Grace’s personal crisis be just the creative spark she needs to reignite her own passion?

As the hot summer days blend together, Nantucket’s rumor mill goes into overdrive. With gossip threatening to obscure the truth, Grace and Madeline must try to set the record straight once and for all. But in doing so, will they upset the delicate balance and reveal secrets best left untold?

In this rich novel, the bonds of lifelong friendship are pushed to the limit against the colorful backdrop of a New England summer. Humorous and heartfelt, it’s a reminder that reality can often be more captivating than fiction.
