It probably won’t surprise you to know that much of my home adorned with coastal décor — an obvious choice when you live one block from the ocean. However, my decorating style predates my move to Amelia Island in 2012. From Atlanta, Georgia to Columbia, South Carolina then Irvine, California, on to Gainesville, Florida and back to Atlanta, my coastal décor has followed me everywhere I’ve gone!
Every house and apartment I’ve ever lived in has been full of blues and greens, the walls adorned with artwork full of palm trees and gentle waves. Sometimes I’ve gone with colorful pops that invoke a South Beach vibe, while other times I’ve gone with a softer palette to create a more peaceful and serene feel.
Currently, my coastal living room decor centers around soft tans and varying shades of blue, aqua and turquoise. I love rattan chairs or tables and colored glass accessories.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite coastal finds for your living room that won’t break the bank. With a little refresh, you can be kicking up your heels and relaxing in your own coastal oasis in no time!
Coastal Accessories on a Budget (Under $50)
Don’t want to replace existing furniture in your room? Swap out drawer knobs for these sand dollar drawer knobs available in brushed pewter or antique white.
And these are the exact glass fishing floats I bought on Etsy in blues and greens that are so fun to decorate with.
Coastal Pillows on a Budget (Under $50)
Pillows are another great way to incorporate coastal décor with your existing furniture. If you already have couches or chairs in neutral colors, some simple pillows can turn your room coastal in no time!
Coastal Lamps on a Budget (Under $100)
Coastal Art on a Budget (Under $100)
I’ve always loved beachy art, but it wasn’t until recent years that my husband (who is an art writer) and I started collecting original art. Although I think there are affordable ways to snag some original coastal art, there are tons of lovely prints available for those on a budget.
Whether you want something more abstract or something that makes you feel like you can walk right out onto the sand and into the water, there are so many great options!
Coastal Rugs on a Budget (Under $250)
I really love these handmade jute rugs, which have a great seagrass look. Adding one of these to your living room will give it an instant coastal vibe.
My parents have this beautiful blue and tan rug in their living room that reminds me of rippling water. German shepherd and toddler not included, haha.

That rug comes in four colors. This one is the “Blue” shade. They have the matching runner too!
Coastal Living Room Ideas for Furniture on a Budget (Under $300)
My first priority when I moved into my house was coastal living room decor, because I knew that was where I’d spend the most time outside of my bedrooom.
I’m really crushing on these pale blue chairs and seriously considering them for our own coastal living room refresh. These are a similar but cheaper option.
It doesn’t matter if you live on the shore or hundreds of miles inland, coastal living room decor can create a soothing, tranquil atmosphere that feels like a vacation in your own home.
